What appears on the various pages in this site are the notes, rants, photos and whatnot of an American chick wandering the world at large. I start in Denmark, because while I’ve done a bit of wandering through the States, and even a brief stint in the Grand Caymans, this is really the furthest I’ve gone, to date. I imagine, with all of Europe at my feet, and enough credit in our bank account, over time I will gather passport stamps like some folks pick up matchbooks from restaurants. Though I plan to grab those, too. ๐ With the husband, and perhaps the little dog too, in tow, this small town girl is off to see the big wide world.
I’ll be dropping in posts and photos as I feel like it, talking about my adventures in travel, and how I’m adjusting to life in the old country as an upstart American, and putting in asides on whatever else exciting that I might bump into as we go along our merry way. I hope you enjoy the ride as much as I expect to. Please feel free to leave comments, suggestions of places to visit, criticisms, or whatever. Chances are I’ll respond, in whatever manner seems to best fit the comment. What might that mean? Write and you’ll find out. ;D
As for me, a little bit of information.
I’m a 41 year old midwestern girl who decided that now was as good a time as any to start seeing the world and checking out some of the other things in life that might have been put to the wayside, as life is wont to do. Having met my DH (darling husband) online and figuring out that a life together would mean one of us had to make ‘the big move’, I thought it could be fun for me to try and learn danish, since his english is quite fluent. And having always had an urge to get out and see the world, imprinting it with my particular brand of Wren, I let the itch to get out of Dodge take over and hit the road. Well, the jetstream really, since it was a long and cramped flight to Copenhagen. But I’ll write about that somewhere else.
Now let me introduce the players in this little blogu-drama:
Wren – me, the Americhick extraordinaire
DH – my Darling Husband, Ras
BFF – my very own Best Friend Forever and Goat Mistress, Vic
The Prince – the one, the only, the dachshund
and various other players as I see fit
You are a riot!!!! I love the way you write. I’ve never actually “met” an american prude before. You’re cool in my book. How does one remain a prude in San Diego though?
hehehe, thanks Ann-Isabelle, always a pleasure to ‘meet’ someone new. Well, my prudishness is ingrained from from growing up in Illinois and Wisconsin, and surprisingly enough San Diego just couldn’t freak it out of me, though it did try. ๐ I did, however, end up with a twist or two… I mean California is considered the land of fruits and nuts. *winks* I hope you’ll stop by and read from time to time, and of course feel free to check out the recipes.
LoL – great site – how you have hit the nail on the head with the danes…. Been here 14 years and it is all the same…
Thanks, Adrian… well, at least there’s a consistency in things. ๐ I’ll have to see if I can shake anything up at all while I’m here, then. I’ve been thinking the place could use a bit of ‘Wren-i-fication’.
